MOMENTUM ON SIDE FOR MRI
This Letter was written in Response to the Editorial that appeared in the Sept 27 2002 edition of the Belleville Intelligencer

Dear Editor,
I would like to thank you for writing a very timely editorial supporting the idea of bringing MRI facilities to the Quinte Area. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the people of the Quinte area, Trenval Business Development Corporation, and The Intel for their constant support and encouragement.
Quinte MRI wants to assure the people of the Quinte Area that it will do everything in its power to bring MRI facilities to the Area. Exactly 30 years ago when my family and I came to the area, the people of the Quinte Area welcomed us with open arms. Our boys, Ryan and Shawn, were born at BGH and went to local high schools. Ryan who now lives in Ottawa and commutes to Ogdensburg to manage our New York Facility and Shawn now manages our local office here in Belleville. The Quinte Area has offered us a safe and secure home, with a clean environment to live and enjoy. We could never pay back the people of this area for their kindness and friendship which my family and I have received over the past thirty years.
Let us all work together to make it happen, the momentum is on our side. The Ministry, The Access Centre and the Community are ready for the action. Quinte MRI, as a start, is willing to make substantial commitment in terms of human and financial resources, if needed! The Ministry wants the best for Ontario and we want the best for the Quinte Area. Quinte MRI is not afraid to compete with the best in the world. Quinte MRI won the MRI contract in New York State by competing against companies such as, Insight and Alliance who have over 1000 MRI mobile units serving rural USA.
Quinte MRI would like to extend an invitation to community members such as Mr. Kitcher, Mr. Buffett, Mr. & Mrs. Clute, Mr. Laughton, Dr. O’Brien and other healthcare stockholders to visit our Thousand Islands MRI at Claxton-Hepburn Hospital in Ogdensburg, New York. It is a fixed-mobile MR system attached to the Radiology Department through a docking bay. It is very much like a Mobile MRI Unit but it does not go anywhere and offers the hospital 24/7 MRI services. It would be a great first hand experience for the individuals from the Quinte Area to see how a Mobile MR can be integrated into an existing Radiology Department of a hospital.
I have no doubt the people of the Quinte Area have the will, it is a matter of making this a priority, and all we need to do is look around the Quinte Area!
