I would like to applaud the Access Centre and the efforts of MR. Kitcher and Mr. Buffett for making a strong case to bring MRI services to the Quinte Area.
Quinte MRI, Inc. a local medical diagnostic company, has been setting up MRI centrers across North America for many years. It will love to see the residents of the Quinte Area provided the same degree of convenience, quality care and sensitivity as the people of Oshawa, Peterborough and Kingston, Ontario.
A mobile MR System makes a great deal of sense because of the distances involved between Belleville, Trenton, Picton and Bancroft. Throughput of a 1.5Tesla GE HiSpeed MR scanner which Quinte MRI uses at its Thousand Islands MRI Center at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg, NY is 20 MRI scans in a 12 hour shift. This means that it has the capability to perform 6000 MRI Exams in a year if the scanner was operated for six days a week for 50 weeks.
Quinte MRI, Inc. will be pleased to help bring MRI services to the Quinte Area. In fact, Quinte MRI is willing to work with the local healthcare providers to set up MRI facilities in the region at no cost to local health authorities or the area hospitals, whether mobile or fixed!
Quinte MRI , Inc. also maintains a large data base of MR Technologists and radiologists who are willing to move to the area to operate , read and manage these systems. Quinte MRI, as a matter of policy, always prefers to use the local skilled force if available. At present Quinte MRI owns and operates MRI centers in New York State, Missouri, the Caribbean. Negotiations are also under way to set up MRI centers in British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec and Ontario.
